A site designed to teach road safety through the use of pupil' ICT skills. There are activities, quizzes, road safety tips and a picture bank. There is also a section for parents. KS2.

A site with numerous lesson ideas based on the statistics from the national school census. Go into curriculum activities, then select all (subject) and travel (search) - there are two KS2 activities based on travelling to school.

Travelwise is an umbrella organisation for local authority staff engaged on a range of travel awareness activities including school travel plans.

Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, has an information service on safe routes to school. There is extensive information and downloadable leaflets on the journey to school.

The Department for Transport has a section about School Travel and includes links to research documents and policy.

Visit the Think website for interactive games , resources and other road safety information.

Modeshift provides training and runs an e-group for local authority staff and others working on schools travel plans.

Healthy Schools is an initiative between the Department for Education and Skills and the Department of Health, aimed at giving teachers and pupils health information.

Teachernet contains extensive information for teachers about Travel Plans, including the development and in-school management of them. There are also curriculum links to Education for Sustainable Development.

The Department for Transport has a website dedicated to providing lessonplans, which are centred on road safety in the curriculum. They encompass Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 4 and AS/AS2 level.

carbondetectives.org.uk provides the means to calculate the travel carbon footprint of the school.

www.rojoart.co.uk - a half day workshop with 60 children working in groups. Includes a drama workshop and a variety of workshops resulting in a large scale piece of art with an environmental twist. This can be tailored to sustainable travel. Cost £250 + milage. Contact: rojoart3@yahoo.co.uk.
