Learn and Live

'Learn and Live' is another road safety initiative developed and delivered by operational firefighters in Suffolk and is supported by local radio station Town102fm . 'Learn and Live' has been developed to compliment the already successful 'RoadKill' project which is delivered to youth offenders.
"Fantastic..!! The students haven't stopped talking about it. Very well presented too..."

"I think you brought the points stated home, and I really respect all the workers who have to clean up after a crash..."

This 40minute presentation has been designed to give mainstream youths aged between 16-24yrs an insight into the dangers of irresponsible vehicle use and the devastating consequences that accompany it. Topics covered in the presentation include:- speeding, young drivers, drink & drug driving, seatbelts and mobile phones.

Seven 'Learn and Live' packages have been funded by local Crime and Disorder Partnerships (CDRP) and will be placed on Fire Stations across the county. The distribution in various districts will allow a wider audience to be targeted e.g. local sixth forms, football clubs, cricket clubs, youth clubs etc.

Following an extensive and successful trial at major learning establishments such as Otley and West Suffolk College' this powerful tool has identified that with real life experiences of the firefighters who deliver the presentation it has a hard-hitting and lasting impact on those who attend. Hopefully with our intervention death and serious injury will be reduced on Suffolk's roads.
