ROAD ACCIDENT AND CASUALTY REPORT 2008

Suffolk County Council compiles a database of road accidents involving personal injury, occurring on public highways, which have been attended by, or reported to, Suffolk Constabulary.

Accidents are categorised according to their casualty injury severity: fatal, serious or slight, as judged by the police officer making the accident report.

"Road Accident & Casualty Report, Suffolk 2008" provides data and analysis, detailing performance in 2008 and against our national casualty reduction targets.

Casualty Reduction Targets

Suffolk County Council sets annual road casualty reduction targets for killed and seriously injured (KSI) and slight injuries (Sl) in the county. The following graphs indicate our progress towards our stretched targets. (updated October 2009)

Graph 1: Blue line shows a target reduction to 304 for killed or seriously injured in 2009. The red line shows our cumulative position to date.

Graph 2: Blue line shows a target reduction to 28 for children aged 0-15 killed or seriously injured in 2009. The red line shows our cumulative position to date.

Graph 3: Blue line shows a target reduction to 2592 for slight injuries in 2009. The red line shows our cumulative position to date.

Note: All red line figures are provisional.

Graph 4: A year by year bar chart from 1994 to 2007 (to date) indicating fatal collisions and fatal casualties.
