Occupational Road Risk
In September 2003, the Health and Safety Executive issued guidance entitled 'Driving for work'. This guidance outlines minimum requirements for businesses that have employees who drive for work purposes. It is estimated that one third of road casualties are work related, this could account for 1000 road deaths per year.

A definitive at-work road safety resource has been developed by road safety professionals to assist businesses in reducing road accidents and managing occupational road risk. The CD 'Driving your business risk down' is acclaimed as the definitive resource for anyone wanting to or needing to acquire an in-depth understanding of the issues relating to occupational road risk.
The CD is web-based and contains three sections of information and advice:
Policies - suggests areas where policies should be considered and why.
Drivers - highlights items where monitoring and control would benefit an organisation.
Vehicles - focuses on specification and documentation that may be required.
Each section also contains examples of best and worst practice, related subject links and web links.
The CD also has 'Library' and 'Toolbox' sections containing a wealth of relevant information including policy statements.
In addition, three Microsoft PowerPoint presentations are provided to explain the importance of managing occupational road risk to senior management, line managers and employees.
