Drivers

Safe driving in Suffolk is a major priority. A number of initiatives seek to improve the standard of driving and reduce casualties. Information about some of these can be found in the list below.

In addition, the County Council runs the Driver Improvement Scheme, the Speed Awareness Scheme and offers a discount on the Pass Plus scheme for young drivers. The Fire Service runs Learn & Live and RoadKill courses for young people and is involved in road safety campaigns. The police target a number of driver issues, in particular: Speed, Drink-Drive, Seat Belts and Mobile Phones. The Safety Camera team target speed through enforcement and speeding campaigns. In general the County Council's engineers and the Highways Agency are concerned with highway safety issues. Information about all of these activities can be found in this site.
