The Honest Truth

In a bid to reduce the number of killed and serious injury collisions involving young drivers the Suffolk RoadSafe Partnership is joining with the County’s Approved Driving Instructors in launching the award winning road safety project 'The Honest Truth'.

Following a fatal Road Traffic Collision in 2009 in South Devon where three young people aged nine, 17 and 19 years old were tragically killed a partnership was formed to look at ways in which collisions like these could be avoided in the future.  The partnership was unique as it brought together statutory partners as well as Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs).  It uses highly visual animal aides to promote discussion such as the parrot head for mobile phone use and the rhino for not using a seatbelt.

Suffolk RoadSafe and 'The Honest Truth' project will be running a number of presentations across the county. We are offering ADI’s free training to join our training seminars and receive free resources to assist them deliver key safety messages to students while training. This exciting project is rapidly going nationwide and we want our local ADIs to be a part of it! So far over 1300 ADIs nationwide are signed up with 100s more coming on board in the recent months!
